A Year and a Half of Excellence

Shelly joined Douglas Manufacturing a year and a half ago, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in the manufacturing industry. As part of the shipping team, Shelly ensures that products move smoothly in and out of the facility—a critical role that supports our commitment to quality and reliability.

So, what does Shelly enjoy most about his work? “I like staying busy and working independently. It makes the day go by fast,” he shared. His focus and efficiency are a testament to his work ethic and passion for what he does.

Advice for New Team Members

Shelly’s advice to anyone starting at Douglas is simple: “It’s a good place to work. Everyone here is nice, and you’ll enjoy it.” He also emphasized the importance of a good attitude and practical skills like reading a tape measure when working in a manufacturing environment.

Beyond the Job

When Shelly isn’t ensuring smooth operations in shipping, he enjoys outdoor activities like fishing for crappie on Logan Martin Lake—one of the world’s best crappie fishing spots—and rabbit hunting with his family.

“It’s a sport we’ve enjoyed for years. My brother, uncle, and I started it with our granddaddy, and it’s stuck with us,” Shelly said. His family has 19 hunting dogs, making their hobby a true team effort.
